    2. Scope of application

    Process classification
    This standard is divided into the following 8 categories and 15 types according to the production process of the iron and steel industry and the combined products:
    a. Beneficiation: re-selection and magnetic separation (excluding flotation plant);
    b. Sintering: sintering and pellets;
    c. Coking: Coking plants including chemical products;
    d. Ironmaking: Ironworks (referring to ordinary iron);
    e. Steelmaking: converter steelmaking and electric furnace steelmaking;
    f. Continuous casting: continuous casting plant (workshop);
    g. Steel rolling: billets, sections, wires, hot rolled strips, steel tubes and cold rolled strips;
    h. Iron and steel enterprises: Basically balanced iron and steel enterprises such as sintering, coking, ironmaking, steelmaking and rolling.
    2. Standard Classification This standard is divided into three levels.
    (1) Wastewater discharged into Class III waters (except water reserves) in GB3838 and Class II waters in GB3097 shall comply with Class I standards.
    (2) Wastewater discharged into Class IV and V waters in GB3838 and Class III waters in GB3097 shall comply with the secondary standard.
    (3) Wastewater discharged into urban sewers where secondary sewage treatment plants are installed shall comply with the tertiary standard.
    (4) Wastewater discharged into urban sewers without a secondary sewage treatment plant must be implemented in accordance with the functional requirements of the sewer effluent receiving water area, and the requirements of 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 shall be implemented.
    (5) Water body protection areas in Class I and II waters and Class III waters in GB3838, and Class I waters in GB3097. The construction of new sewage outlets is prohibited, and the expansion and reconstruction projects shall not increase the amount of sewage.
    3. Standard values According to different years, this standard specifies the minimum allowable recycling rate of wastewater in the iron and steel industry, the maximum allowable drainage volume per ton of product, and the maximum allowable discharge concentration of water pollutants.
    (1) The iron and steel industry construction projects established before January 1, 1989 and the enterprises that have been put into operation after completion are implemented according to Table 1.

    2) Fengshui District: The water source is from the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, the Pearl River, the Xiangjiang River, and the Songhua River.
    Water scarcity areas: Water sources are taken from reservoirs, groundwater, and areas identified by the State Water Resources Administration as water scarcity areas.
    (2) The iron and steel industry construction projects established between January 1, 1989 and June 30, 1992 and the enterprises that have been put into operation after completion are implemented according to Table 2.
